![]() Political correctness gone mad and really no place for this in a Christmas family performance. The lion didn't seem to know whether she was a lion or a lioness and the comments regarding the fact that the wizard was a woman were totally unnecessary. When Dorothy arrived on stage in a pair of dungerees and a scarf tied round her head, looking like the local cleaner, we witnessed tears from some children who were dressed as Dorothy was intended to look. ![]() Shows during the Christmas period at the Rep are usually aimed at families and the Wizard of Oz should have been no exception. Whilst the actors and actresses themselves were obviously talented and did their best with their parts, much of the casting ultimately did not work and led to a very disappointing performance. We have attended shows at the Rep for years but have never attended a poor performance until the Wizard of Oz on Boxing Day. ![]()
